Research on effects of SSY in psychological health issues - SSY health research

SIDDHA SAMADHI YOGA HEALTH RESEARCH

NAME OF PROJECT :-

To study effect of SSY on persons suffering from psychosomatic and psychoneurotic disorders.

EXTENDED ENUNCIATION :-

Increased Urbanisation, increased population, increased workload, competition and all stress and strains in life has dangerous effects on persons mind and body. This gives rise to various psychosomatic and psychoneurotic disorders.

Person suffering from these disorders may not have any physical or organic disability; the does not lose touch with external reality and his personality is not grossly affected. But it has definite effects on positive health and work output of the individual.

As this is disorder of mind and body, drugs prescribed by and faculty of meaicine (Allopathy, Homeopathy or Ayurved) will give only temporary relief.

So medical scientists are in search of a complete solution for this problem.

The solution for this problem lies in spiritual knowledge. Guruji Rishi Prabhakar, founder of R.S.V.K. has given this therapy in the form of Siddha Samadhi Yoga - a 21 days programme.

Siddha Samadhi Yoga is a ‘concentrated capsule course’ which gives cure in various disorders, prevents emerging disorders and thus helps individual to have a positive health. Lot of Research is required to prove maximum utility of this programme in various fields. This is basic Research which gives utility of SSY in psychosomatic and psychoneurotic disorders and explains its importance to achieve positive health.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES :-

(1)    To prove therapeutic utility of SSY on pschosomatic and psychoneurotic disorders.

(2)    To prove effect of SSY to achieve positive health.

(3)    To put SSY as a media to achieve “Health for all by 2000” which is a goal of World Health Organisation (WHO).

KEY WORDS :-

  •   SSY
  •   PSYCHOSOMATIC AND PSYCHONEUROTIC DISORDERS
  •   POSITIVE HEATH
  •   HEALTH FR ALL BY 2000

MATERIALS AND METHODS :-

MATERIALS - People who come to do 21 days Siddha Samadhi Yoga.

METHODS :-

As no mechanical device or method is available to detect these problems in individuals these individuals are the only sources to get information about their problems. So initially we have given them a form in local language (MARATHI) which has three parts (1) Biodata (2) personal information (3) proforma for detection of psychosomatic disorder. Third part i.e. proforma contains 38 statements which are symptoms suggestive of various psychosomatic and psychoneurotic disorders. Same from is given on the psychosomatic and psychoneurotic disrders. Same form is given on the last day of programme after this evaluation is done to look for improvement in their problems.

Results :-

125 people are taken into consideration for study of effect of Siddha Samadhi Yoga on Psychosomatic and psychoneurotic disorders Various problems like weakness, recurrent diseases (person feel that he is always ill either because of some or other cause), Headache, running nose, Insomnia, GI Disturbances, anxiety, phobia, personality complex and nervousness are included. SSY has acted like a concentrated capsule and gives excellent recovery in these persons. Weakness is on the decrease in 77.97% persons. Feeling of getting repeated illness is lost in 87.88% of people. Headache is decreased in 62.16% people. Chronic problems of running nose was stopped completely in 68.18% people. 75.55% people get rid from the problem of Insomnia. GI disturbances were cured in 69.44% people. Problem of anxiety decreased in 71.62% people. Phobias disappeared in 72.73% people 72.55% peoples achieve normal human behaviour by losing personality complexes and 71.68% peoples feel enthusiasm by losing nervousness. This proves the significant curative effect of SSY in Psychosomatic and Psychoneurotic disorders.

Actually persons suffering from above disorders donot have any organic problems. They have touch with external reality and their personalities are also within range of normality. Still they were suffering from problems. They were in presymtomatic or preclinical stages of major organic diseases. These disorders incapacitate them to work optimally and thus they were not living in a state of positive health. SSY has given them cure and this proves the effect of SSY to achieve positive health.

DISCUSSION :-

WHO definition of health is “A state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely an absence of disease or infirmity.”

The state of positive health implies the notion of perfect functioning of the body and mind. It conceptualizes health biologically, as a state in which every cell and every organ is functioning at optimum capacity and in perfect harmony with the rest of body; psychologically, as a state in which the individual feels a sense of perfect well being and mastery over his environment, and socially, as a state in which the individual’s capacities for participation in the social system are optimal.

Dubos said, “The concept of perfect positive health cann’t become a reality because man can never be so perfectly adopted to his environment that his life will not involve struggles, failures and sufferings.” Positive health will, therefore, always remain a mirage, because everybody in our life is subject to change. Health in context has been described as potentially the ability of an individual or a social group to modify himself or itself continually in the face of changing conditions of life.

Health is multidimensional. The WHO definition envisages 3 specific dimensions - physical, mental and social. Many more may be cted viz. spiritual, emotional, vocational, political, philosophical, cultural, socioeconomic, environmental, educational, nutritional, curative and preventive. Although all these dimensions have their own nature; they function and interact with one other. harmonous functioning of all dimensions can bring out the concept of positive health into reality.

Many attempts have been made to define disease. Webster defines disease as “A condition in which body health is impaired, a departure from a state of health, an alteration of human body interrupting the performance of vital functions.” The Oxford English dictionary defines disease as, “A condition of body of some part or organ of the body in which its functions are disturbed or deranged.” Simplest definition is, of course, that disease is just the opposite of health i.e. any deviation from normal functioning or state of complete physical or mental well being.

The WHO has defined health but not disease. This is because disease has many shades (“spectrum of disease”) ranging from inapparent (subclinical) cases to severe manifest illnesses.

Up to the time of Louis Pasture (1992-95) various concepts of disease causation were in vogue eg. the supernatural theory of disease, theory of humours, the concept of spontaneous generation etc. In 19th and early part of 20th century the Germ theory is put forward. Germ theory has many limitations. This demanded a border concept of disease causation that synthesized the basic factors of agent, host and environment. This model has been in use for many years. It helped epidemiologists to focus on different classes of factors especially with regard to infectious diseases. This model also falls short to explain the causation of various diseases like heart disease, hypertension, diabetis, cancer etc. So concept of multifactorial causation is now accepted by most of epidemiologist. One more concept of disease causation ‘Web of causation’ was suggested by Mac Mohan and Pugh in their book : “Epidemiologic principles and methods.” This model is ideally suited in the study of chronic diseases, where the disease agent is often not known, but is the out come of interaction of multiple factors.

The concept that disease is due to multiple factors is not a new one. Pattern Kofer of Munich (1819-1901) was an early proponent of this concept. But then “Gern theory of disease” or “Single cause idea” in the late 19th century overshadowed the multiple cause this concept. But the “Germ theory of disease” or “Single cause idea” in the late 19th century overshadowed the multiple cause theory. As a result of advances in public health it is now realized that social, economic, cultural, genetic and psychological factors are also equally important in disease causation. The purpose of knowing the multiple factors of disease is to quantify and arrange them in priority sequence (prioritization) for modification or amelioration to prevent or control disease. The multifactorial concept offers multiple approaches for the prevention/control of disease.

Psychosomatic and psychoneurotic disorders come under the preclinical or presymtomatic stage of disease or disease - spectrum. During this stage there is no manifestation of disease. The pathological changes are accentialy below the level of the “clinical horizon”. These are caused by various factors such as worries, annixety, emotional stress, tension, frustration, unhappy marriages, broken homes, poverty, industrialization, urbanisation, changing family structure, population mobility, economic insecurity, cruelty, rejection and neglect and the like. With all these person still is considered to be normal. But if these factors are associated with other organic or heriditry factors; pathological changes start to appear in body which produces severe disease in these individuals, such as - heat diseases, blood pressure, diabetes, allergic disorders, asthma, and various types of cancers or severe mental disorders, asthma, and various types of cancers or severe mental disorders such as schizopherenia, manic depressive psychosis etc.

To get relief person start smoking, taking alcohol etc. which takes him away from positive health. This is how the chain continue which ultimately ends in health, and emergence of unhealthy/weaker community.

Indian sages and seers had paid particular attention to the unconcious, mind wherein lie submerged unfulfilled desires and compulsions of several kinds which led the individual astray; by mastering their minds, they attained the highest level of emotional equilibrium. They are the only persons who enjoyed a positive health which always remain a mirage for other.

Guruji Rishi Prabhakar is a scientist. He is leader of meditation, consciousness and management. He is a great philosopher. He has put all spiritual knowledge in modern and simple language (Digital language) which is easy to understand for everyone. He is founder of Rishi Sanskruti Vidya Kendra, Banglore. He has developed “Siddha Samadhi Yoga” a 21 days programme.

Pranayama, and raw food consumption helps to purify the body. Raw food provides natural energy which can be utilized 100% by our body. Pranayama greatly helps to take out toxic products occumulated in the body, and it provides “Prana” to every cell of body. This the body, and it provides “Prana” t every cell of body. This prana produces various effects at cellular level. It causes increase in ATP production which is the energy house of cell and thus it increases the functional capacity of cell and thereby every organ and finally increases the capacity of that individual to do various functions. It also has important action “Rejenuvation” i.e. it increases the life span of cell and keep the cell young and healthy. Thus pranayama and raw food consumption produce positive effects on physical dimension of health.

Meditation is the third important thing. SSY meditation coincides with highest state of meditation discribed by Swami Vivekananda i.e. Nirwikalpa Samadhi. Meditation gives highest level of emotional equilibrium, it settles mind and also help to catabolise toxic substances produced in body which are then taken out from body Meditation helps to clarify all complex thoughts going on in the brain. Thus a lot of problems get solved during 15 minutes of this simple meditation. It has positive effects on minutes of this simple meditation. It has positive effects on minutes of this simple meditation. t has positive effects on political and vocational dimensions of health. Above all meditation gives a tremendous rest to body. Just 15 minutes of meditation is equivalent to 3 hrs. of sleep. It regularizes the production of hormones inside the body. Also it increases the production of T4 cells in the body which have important role in immunity. Because of cells in the body which have important role in immunity. Because of cells in the body which have important role in immunity. Because of cells in the body which have important role in immunity. Because of this action meditation is indicated in patients of HIV (AIDS). In short, SSY meditation has positive effect on mental, emotional, psychological, vocational, and political dimensions of health.

After all SSY teaches the Art of Non doing, it enlightens individual and thus gives internal bliss. Thus it helps to enjoy a state of positive health.

“Global strategy of Health fr all by 2000” is a Goal of WHO. To achieve this multidimensional approach is required. This research has proved the curative and preventive role of Siddha Samadhi Yoga beyond doubts. It has also given hopes to achieve complete positive health which is a mirage. Lot of research is required in this field to prove the maximum utility.

Siddha Samadhi Yoga has multidimensional positive effects on health. It is a very good weapon to fight against multifactorial diseases and if it reaches to all people in the word, the Goal of WHO can be brought into reality.
